1/8" plywood blocks were epoxied along each side of the wheel pants. In addition, I covered each block with 2 ounce fiberglass cloth to ensure they weren't going anywhere.

When these pants were laid up, the parting lines don't always match perfectly. This is normal, but it does requires a bit of sanding to make each half flush.

The top pant has been sanded down in comparison to the untouched bottom pant. They will be primed, then glazing putty applied to the parting lines.

Close-up showing the surface finish. Currently it has been sanded to 320 grit.

My guess there will be no painting of the fuselage today....😠

I thought I had prepped the surface perfectly, but after spraying the white primer it magnified the few I had missed... Overall I was happy with how straight the lines of the fuselage has come out.

One light mist coat was applied to all the parts shown (cowl not shown) followed by two more heavy coats.

The fuselage was mounted on my rotisserie which I made from one 8 foot 2x4. It allows me to paint all sides of the fuselage by simply rotating the black iron pipe.

3 ounces of Part A (primer) was added to another 3 ounces of Part B (catalyst) in a mixing cup and allowed to sit for about 30 minutes BEFORE thinning. After the 30 minute time 6 ounces of thinner was added and thoroughly mixed.

All of the pinholes that I missed have been filled and sanded. As you can see, there wasn't a lot of them, but enough for me to be upset if I had sprayed the color coat...

The rest of the framework was lightly sanded (overspray) and was brushed with its first coat of a 3:1 Nitrate dope mixture. Tomorrow it will be sanded and a second coat will be applied. Once this is done I will be able to cover the fuselage with Koverall.

Once the perimeter was secured with my iron, the cloth was shrunk exposing a graceful fillet.

The cloth was cut making sure there was plenty of excess material. A slit was made for the cloth to straddle the stabilizer. I used medium sized binder clamps to hold the cloth in position. I should mention that the perimeter of the right side framework was brushed with one coat of Stix-it.

I started to tack the edges while gently pulling on the cloth to minimize as many wrinkles as possible.

The fuselage will be covered as its full scale counterpart would have been in two sections. The full scale version would have its horizontal stabilizer removed, making the job easier. I will have to work around it.

Last to cover are the horizontal stabilizers. I debated whether to cover the top and bottom in one piece, but I opted to cover them separately. Stix-it was brushed and the fabric was cut.

The perimeter was ironed securing the cloth to the balsa. Before the excess fabric was trimmed, Nitrate dope was brushed on all the edges and allowed to dry. This makes trimming the cloth an easy affair without the cloth fraying.
